Microsoft open-sources its quantum computing development tools

Serveless

Build 2019: Microsoft, Red Hat develop open-source service for auto-scaling serverless containers on Kubernetes

Open Source–It’s in the Genes

Glyn Moody 的由一篇文章,这位老将(曾写作Rebel Code: Linux And The Open Source Revolution 一书)继续探索开源在人类社会中的作用。

Guido van Rossum On Python and Diversity in Open Source

Announcing the winners of the 2019 Women in Open Source Awards

Throughout the open source community, developers, programmers, engineers and enthusiasts are making an impact, sometimes one line of code at a time. In addition to their technical contributions, they’re making an impact by advocating for and mentoring others, ultimately bringing more people into the open source community.

What’s really behind Microsoft’s love of open source

if anything, like Thanos, they are inevitable. Why? Because open source is and always has been the tool of the underdog.

No Longer A Cheap Alternative, Open Source Is Now The Home Of Innovation Says Red Hat Chief

“There is no proprietary equivalent of [open source software] used for agile and dev-ops. All of that’s in open source. So when that happened, [for] enterprises it was no longer a sourcing strategy – if I’m going to use this or not. It was ‘I can’t do dev-ops without consuming open source. So now it’s not if it’s how you’re going to consume it.”

CEOs heap praise on open source as Red Hat opens final conference as an independent

The future will be built on open source,” IBM CEO Ginni Rometty said in an onstage interview today with Red Hat CEO Jim Whitehurst at Red Hat Summit 2019 in Boston. “Red Hat Enterprise Linux is the world standard for clients who choose a secure open stack.”

Steve Singh stepping down as Docker CEO

As for Bearden, he is an experienced executive with a history of successful exits. In addition to his experience at Hortonworks, he was COO at SpringSource, a developer tool suite that was sold to VMware for $420 million in 2009 (and is now part of Pivotal). He was also COO at JBoss, an open-source middleware company acquired by Red Hat in 2006.

Docker

Windows

ENEMIES NO MORE: MICROSOFT BRINGS THE LINUX KERNEL TO WINDOWS

Changing landscape: Microsoft adopts an open approach

“They are still digging out of the hole of distrust that they dug themselves into,” Schoonover says. “But it’s a testament to Nadella and whomever he has advocating for open source that they have been able to re-establish enough trust for people like me to even consider running Windows.”

Red Hat’s CEO talks IBM’s open-source endorsement and Microsoft partnership

We are all about making open source the default choice in the world,“If we think we’re going to change the world, how better can we propel this forward?”

Red Hat talks project vs. product in enterprise open source

If you’re going to base your enterprise product on an upstream project, you better have good influence in that upstream project, because when your customers ask you to address an issue or … help take it in a direction, if you don’t have that influence, you can’t satisfy your customers,” 也再也没见第二家公司能做到。

“The number zero goal before that is, make the project successful. Our products can’t be successful unless we’re built on a successful project,”
